Having explored this Alaskan jewel firsthand, I can’t wait to share the must-do experiences that will make your visit truly unforgettable.

Kenai Fjords National Park: A Marine Wonderland

One of the highlights of my trip to Seward was exploring the mesmerizing Kenai Fjords National Park. Boarding the Kenai Fjords Wildlife Cruise with Alaska Shore Tours was an adventure like no other. As we glided through the icy waters, surrounded by towering fjords and calving glaciers, I was mesmerized by the sheer beauty of this untouched wilderness. Keep your eyes peeled for the diverse marine life; I was lucky enough to witness playful sea otters, majestic humpback whales breaching the surface, and sea lions basking on the rocky shores. The experience is truly a photographer’s paradise! Take a look below at our team exploring the national park:

Exit Glacier: An Accessible Ice Field

For a more terrestrial adventure, hiking to Exit Glacier is a must. Just a short drive from Seward, the Exit Glacier area offers a network of trails that cater to all fitness levels. I opted for the Harding Icefield Trail, a challenging yet rewarding trek that provides panoramic views of the sprawling icefield. Standing at the edge, with ice as far as the eye can see, was a humbling reminder of nature’s grandeur. For those seeking a less strenuous outing, the Exit Glacier Overlook Trail provides an easier route with equally impressive views.

Alaska SeaLife Center: Dive into Marine Conservation

The Alaska SeaLife Center is a fascinating attraction that combines education with hands-on marine encounters. As I wandered through the exhibits, I was captivated by the vibrant underwater world displayed in the large aquariums. From puffins to sea lions, the center offers a close-up look at the diverse marine life that inhabits Alaska’s coastal waters. It was heartening to learn about the center’s conservation efforts, and I left with a deeper appreciation for the delicate ecosystems of the region.

Dog Sledding: A True Alaskan Adventure

For a quintessential Alaskan experience, dog sledding on the Godwin Glacier is an absolute must. With Alaska Shore Tours, I had the opportunity to soar over the snowy landscapes in a helicopter before landing on the glacier itself. Meeting the enthusiastic sled dogs and mushing across the pristine ice was an exhilarating experience that I’ll never forget. The thrill of the ride, coupled with the stunning views, made it a highlight of my Seward adventure.

Seward Waterfront Park: A Scenic Stroll

On a leisurely afternoon, take a stroll along the Seward Waterfront Park. The scenic pathway offers stunning views of Resurrection Bay and the surrounding mountains. As I walked along the shoreline, the fresh ocean breeze and the sound of waves gently lapping against the rocks provided a tranquil escape from the bustling world. It’s the perfect spot for a picnic or simply to relax and soak in the natural beauty of Seward.

Fishing Charters: Reel in the Adventure

Seward offers fishing enthusiasts some of the best opportunities to reel in a big catch. Joining a fishing charter was an exciting experience, and with the guidance of knowledgeable captains, The thrill of the catch, coupled with the stunning backdrop of mountains and sea, creates a memorable experience for anglers of all skill levels.

Downtown Seward: A Charming Coastal Retreat

Exploring downtown Seward was a delightful surprise. The quaint streets are lined with colorful shops, art galleries, and cozy cafes. I spent a lovely afternoon browsing local crafts and sampling fresh seafood. The laid-back vibe of the town, paired with its stunning backdrop, made for a perfect day of relaxation and discovery. Don’t miss the chance to try some local halibut or salmon – it's a culinary experience you won't soon forget.

Kayaking in Resurrection Bay: A Paddler's Paradise

For the adventurous at heart, kayaking in Resurrection Bay is an experience not to be missed. Gliding silently along the water, with the mountains reflecting on the bay's surface, was utterly magical. I joined a guided tour, which was perfect for spotting wildlife and learning about the bay's history and ecology. Seals popped up to say hello, and we even spotted a bald eagle perched majestically atop a tree. The tranquility and beauty of kayaking here are unparalleled.
